This is the lighting practice video we did in Deborah's seminar. We were told to do a low lighting interview. Initially, our idea was to do a crimewatch style interview, casting a silhouette over the interviewees body to disguise their appearance. We had some trouble getting a perfect silhouette so we changed our idea to having a low lighting police style interrogation about a murder.
I think the lighting worked well in this. It creates a mood where the person getting interviewed looks guilty and the low light makes him come across quite sly.
The shadow cast across one side of the face gives the illusion that there are two sides to this character and the darker side is the one hiding the truth. It is amazing how much enigma can be created with the aid of a few lights and where you position them.
Here is the best version we had after a few takes!
